Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-A member of Sudan’s Government delegation to the negotiations on Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile, Dr. Hussein Karshom, has launched scathing attack on the top negotiator of Sudan People Liberation Movement- North (SPLM-N), Yasser Arman, saying that the latter is evasive and doesn't have the will and bear agenda to destabilize Sudan.
In remarks to Khartoum-based Al-Shirouq T.V Channel on Thursday, Karshom stated that Arman had said clearly during the last round of negotiations in Addis Ababa that he would not sign an agreement on the Tow Areas unless Darfur armed movements sign an agreement also.
“ Arman has said that forces of the Darfur movements are now mixed with their troops on the ground in Southern Kordofan in a military alliance, so if they seal an agreement and Darfur movements don’t , this will have a direct impact on his personal security” Karshom disclosed
He considered that the SPLM-N Secretary-General uses tactic of elusion regarding the negotiations because he does not have free will and performs other agenda seeking to destabilize Sudan, pointing out that Arman was talking about issues that have nothing to do with the Two Areas such as Islamic law, autonomy and constitutional preparatory conference.
Khartoum has been fighting an insurgency in the southern provinces of Blue Nile and South Kordofan since 2011, mounted mostly by former civil war fighters who were left in Sudan after South Sudan seceded that year.
Talks collapsed largely because the rebels insisted that a ceasefire in the two regions be negotiated in conjunction with one in neighboring Darfur, where a conflict that saw the government accused of genocide a decade ago has rumbled on.
