Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan’s opposition National Umma Party (NUP) leader, Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, said that his leaving the country was due to national efforts to search for peace, pointing out that he would return to his country when the proper environment prevail , calling for holding a comprehensive conference for the national dialogue controlled by the African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP)
In a press conference he held after his meeting with the head of (AUHIP) on Sunday, Al-Mahdi said that there is a crisis of confidence but can be overcome if they all agreed that the dialogue process led by neutral and specific leadership
He added that the participation of the armed movements must be discussed outside Sudan, but the comprehensive agreement should be inside the country , saying that conditions is conducive to democratic transformation, calling for unification of the opposition parties to solve Sudan’s issues
On Sunday, Sudan’s president, Omer al-Bashir vowed to try al-Mahdi for his alliance with the rebel SRF groups adding that the opposition leader will be tried according to the law, no more no less”.
On 8 August in the French capital, NUP leader signed a deal with the rebel groups providing that a political settlement for the Sudanese crisis is the best option. The declaration calls for a comprehensive solution involving all the political and rebel forces.
