Khartoum-The undersecretary of the ministry of foreign affairs Abdalla Hamd
Al-Azrag has revealed escalations at the Security Council with regard
to the issue of Thabit village in North Darfur state, saying that
“something bigger than that is being made”.

Ambassador Al-Azrag made briefed on Friday the European ambassadors,
the international organizations and the US charge d’affaires in Sudan
on the allegations of raping 200 women in Thabit village in North
Darfur state.

Speaking to journalists, Al-Azrag attributed the rejection to the
UNAMID request to conduct another investigation in the village to what
he described as escalations at the Security Council against Sudan.

He pointed out that the Security Council issued, on Thursday,
statement calling for allowing the UNAMID into Thabit, describing that
the statement as an attempt to pave the way for further escalations
and taking measures against Sudan.

He said the attempt to conduct another investigations into the mass
rape is a humiliation for the state and violation to its sovereignty
and that no respected government would accept such violations and
humiliations.
