16 Darfur rebels sentenced to 13 years in jail

Khartoum-The special court in Al-Fahir tribunal complex has condemned 16 members of the armed movements under articles related to criminal complicity, arms and ammunition and organized crimes networks.
The 16 defendants have been sentenced to 13 years in jail. Last April, the defendants have intercepted a trade convoy heading from Niyala to Zalingi, where the armed forces were able to arrest and handed them over to the Prosecutor General of Darfur crimes, which transferred them to the special court.
In a press statement, the prosecutor general of Darfur crimes said that the defendants have been given the entire legal rights to defend themselves through a group of senior lawyers in North Darfur.
