Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan’s government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North (SPLM-N) made a breakthrough on the fourth day in their negations in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa by agreement on the general framework for the negotiation, while sources inside the negotiating rooms expected that the two sides to reach framework agreement in Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan states today, Sunday.
The agreement came after intensive meetings continued for hours in the presence of the head of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP), Thabo Mbeki.
Sources reported that the two sides have succeeded to discuss many issues concerning the negotiation agenda, disclosing that Khartoum’s government and SPLM-N succeeded in completing the framework for negotiating about the Two Areas and submitted the draft to AUHIP.
The sources added that the two sides wait to read the draft that the AUHIP will submit during Sunday’s meeting prior to the signing of the final framework agreement leading to a cease-fire in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile.
The sources disclosed that the government delegation refused to include “Paris Declaration” in the framework agreement, but suggested to use another formulation referring to this agreement between the rebel groups and the National Umma Party (NUP).
The parties also agreed to discard the mention to the tripartite humanitarian agreement from the framework agreement and agreed instead to negotiate a new deal, as they diverge on its implementation.
