The Sudanese Air Force bombed the area east of Mashrou Abu Zeid in East Jebel Marra on Saturday. On the same day, a citizen was killed in an armed robbery in East Darfur.
According to local residents, the air raids on the area, located 3 km east of Mashrou Abu Zeid, caused the burning of vast tracts of farmlands. They reported to Radio Dabanga that the bombardments did not cause any human fatalities. The fires, however, destroyed all the crops that were about to be harvested.
The residents also complained of a huge increase of malaria cases, and the spread of diseases among malnourished children in East Jebel Marra.
Armed robbery
El Haj Hajo (45) was shot dead by gunmen on his farmland in the area of Kharita in East Darfur. The robbers took his property and donkey cart.
Hamdan Abdallah Tirab, MP for Abu Karinka constituency, demanded via Radio Dabanga “a complete investigation of the incident”.
