Opposition leader still in jail despite presidential relief

Khartoum-The chairman of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party Ibrahim Al-Sheikh is still in jail in Al-Obeid city in north Kordofan despite issuance of a presidential decree to set him free on Wednesday.

The spokesperson of the party Abu-bakr Yousif told Al-Tageer electronic newspaper that the administration of the prison has not received any order from the headquarters to release him until Saturday although all media outlets spoke about issuance of Presidential orders to release him.

Al-Sheikh has been under arrest since last June after he criticized the Rapid Support Forces in a mass rally in Al-Nuhud area.
