Al-Bashir: There is no reason to postpone elections

Khartoum-The President of the Republic Omer Al-Bashir has said that there is no reason to postpone the presidential and parliamentary elections, scheduled to take place next year, giving directives to the concerned commission to do its duties in this regard.

President Al-Bashir said that the election law enables all parties to enter the parliament.

President Al-Bashir received on Sunday the reply of the national legislature (parliament and states, council) on the address he tabled in the national legislature in its 9th session.

President Al-Bashir said that holding the elections in April as planned is a constitutional commitment, affirming the state’s commitment to expand the political participation and ensure freedoms in accordance with the law.

President Al-Bashir rejected the critics by some political forces against the rapid support forces while ignoring the violations committed by the rebels in localities of Al-Lait, Tiwasha, Milit and Kalamdo.

He pointed out that the rapid support forces have defeated the rebels in several areas in South Kordofan and Darfur states.
