Amended drafted constitution tabled in Parliament

Khartoum-The Minister of Council of Ministers Ahmed Sa’ad Omer tabled, on Tuesday, the amended draft constitution of Sudan for 2005 in the Parliament to involve the Doha peace agreement in the constitution. Chairman of the Darfur regional authority Al-Tigani Al-Sisi was present when the draft constitution was tabled in the parliament.

The Speaker of the Parliament Al-Fateh Izz-Eddin said the inclusion of the Doha peace agreement in the constitution represents ethical commitment by the government with the international community and the signatories to the agreement, saying that the move aims to ensure its implementation so that non-signatories would hopefully join it.

The Parliament has formed urgent committee to study the amendment of the constitution.
