Khartoum-The Red Sea Police have arrested more than 50 Somali girls for entering the country illegally.

Director of Red Sea Police Major General Hayder Ahmed Suleiman said in a press statement to the Citizen that police units have noticed unusual presence of Somali girls. After checking their papers by the authorities, it becomes clear that they have entered the country illegally.

Suleiman has affirmed the authorities are vigilant to maintain the prestige of the state and protect the area from any threats. He further said that the security situations in his state are under control.

Suleiman has affirmed that the Sudanese regional territories are free from sea piracy, adding that” piracy spreads on coasts of Djibouti, Somalia and Kenya while the Sudanese regional water territories are totally free”.

Due to its geographical location, Sudan poses a target and crossing for illegal immigration, especially from the African countries to Europe, Israel and the gulf states a matter that pushed the ministry of justice to announce last month that illegal immigration and human trafficking has become s source of concern to the state.

The number of the victims of human trafficking in the Sub-Sahara Africa exceeded 10.000 in 2013, according to a statement by the US State Department on Friday.

The report said that the rating of Sudan and Afghanistan has improved while the rating of Thailand, Malaysia, Columbia, Cyprus and Qatar have downgraded after revelations of appalling maltreatment of workers that amount to modern-day slavery.
