Khartoum-The federal health minister Bahar Idris Abu-Garada has said that the US sanctions on Sudan have deprived the Sudanese people from benefitting from the American activities related to combating malaria, tuberculosis and HIV, stating that some medial equipments and drugs are being imported from the USA through mediators who request lots of money.
Speaking to the hearing session on the US sanctions and their impact of citizens at the Parliament on Monday, the federal health minister expressed sorrow over non-importation of spare parts of rare caner machine for Medani hospital due to the American sanctions.
The minister said that Washington is funding the biggest program for combating diseases of malaria, tuberculosis and AIDs but the Sudanese people are not able to benefit from these huge funding due to the US sanctions on Sudan since 1997.
He cited to a rejection of a regional US center to do some tests during the outbreak of the yellow fever in Darfur in 2013.
In the meantime, member of the parliament Ali Barsi has criticized the foreign policy urging for rapprochement with the US. He said that Washington was supporting the payment of balance in the 1980s with 800 million dollars.
In response, deputy Su’ad Al-Fateh has criticized those who call for rapprochement with the US.
In the same context, member of the Parliament Mudathir Khidir said that more than 4 trains are defected in Sudan due to the US sanctions.
