KHARTOUM

(

6 May

.) -

Security forces arrested two Sudanese Ba’ath Party members in Khartoum on Monday. People in Khartoum protested a lack of water on the same day. Two-thirds of the Khartoum State police will be deployed in the neighbourhoods of Sudan’s capital.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, an affiliate of the Sudanese Ba’ath Party said that party members and El Nilein University students Abdel Samee El Siddig and El Fatih Mohamed Gasim were arrested in front of the Khartoum-El Fitihab bridge on Monday. They were protesting the government’s policies. The police prevented two others to continue raising a banner reading “No to the thieves of the people's money”.

On 27 April, the Sudanese Socialist Ba’ath Party launched a campaign in Greater-Khartoum. Party members visit public places where they present their opinion on current political issues in the country.

Water

Residents of El Shajara neighbourhood in the southern part of Khartoum went to the streets on Sunday and blocked the main road in a protest against water outages since two weeks.

‘Security extension’

Police Lt. Mohamed Ahmed, head of the Khartoum State police, has ordered the re-opening of all the “Comprehensive Security-Extension Police” posts in the neighbourhoods of Khartoum, as well as the allocation of two-thirds of the police forces “to the field”.
