NYALA

(

Young activists in Nyala, South Darfur, have launched an initiative to help the newly displaced.

Abdel Hafeez Abdallah, one of the initiators told Radio Dabanga that the aim of the initiative, dubbed ‘They are my family”, is to collect clothes, “as much as possible”. “We have already collected more than 1,000 pieces of clothing to distribute to the newly displaced who fled the attacks of the Rapid Support Forces on their villages southeast of Nyala since the end of February.”

“We are still collecting,” Abdallah explained. “As the number of newly displaced is very large. They lack the most basic necessities of life, food, water, clothing, medicines, and shelter.”

Abdallah praised the cooperative spirit of the citizens in Nyala. “Many encouraged us to continue and expland our activities. That is indeed what we are doing. We want to extend our collecting toother towns and areas.”
