South Sudan ambassador stresses importance of peace and national reconciliation
Cario-The South Sudan ambassador to Cairo Anthony Kon has stressed the importance of realization of peace and national reconciliation. In a meeting with South Sudan community in Egypt yesterday, the ambassador affirmed the necessity of the collective work to build the homeland, saying that peace and acceptance of others is a necessity.
He said that dialogue is the useful way for solving the issues, underscoring the role of the clergy men and Sultans (chiefs of tribes) in this turning point in South Sudan.
He said that democracy is deeply rooted in the history of the South Sudan community, saying that South Sudan cannot be ruled by a single party or tribe, lauding the role of the first pioneers and heroes who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of South Sudan.
He briefed the community on the incidents in South Sudan since the outbreak of the violence on the 15th of December, and described what was happened as failed military coup that turned into armed conflict.
On their parts, a number of the leaders of the South Sudan community have stressed the importance of dialogue and peace, affirming support to the leadership in South Sudan in the person of President Salva Kiir, and lauded his role in solving the crisis.
