The new US envoy for Sudan and South Sudan arrives in Khartoum on Friday.
Khartoum-The newly-appointed US envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Ambassador Donald Booth, will embarks on his first visit to Khartoum on Friday.
According to Khartoum-based Al-Youm Al-Tali newspaper published on Tuesday that the new U.S. Envoy will meet during his visit with Sudan's Foreign Affairs Minister, Ali Karti, and a number of Sudanese officials, pointing out that saying he would leave Sudan next Monday to New York
In a press statement, Karti stated that Sudanese authorities will facilitate the task of the new Envoy, pointing out that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, has promised that he and the envoy will focus on relationships of Khartoum and Washington
President Obama announced last month he has appointed Donald Booth as the U.S. special envoy for Sudan and South Sudan.
"Ambassador Booth is one of America's most experienced diplomats, with broad experience helping promote peace and prevent conflict across Africa," the president said in a statement released by the White House.
"With his considerable diplomatic talents, deep knowledge of the continent and unwavering determination, I am confident that Ambassador Booth will advance U.S. interests in pursuing a durable and lasting peace between and within Sudan and South Sudan."
