Council of Minister Reviews Report on Recent Incidents in Libya

    Khartoum, Jan. 25 (SUNA)- The Council of Ministers heard in it regular sitting Thursday, chaird by the First Vice - President and National Prime Minister, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, a report presented by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hamid Mumtaz, on the recent incidents in Libya and the inhuman acts inflicted on a number of Sudanese nationals in Libya.
    The spokesman of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Omer Mohamed Salih, said in a press statement that his ministry has summoned the Libya Charge d'Affairs who apologized to Sudan government, explaining that nine Sudanese nationals have been detained at an area which outside the control of government and later released by the Libyan authorities through coordination with the Libyan authorities, adding that these Sudanese nationals will be transported home to Khartoum shortly.
    The Council of Ministers was also briefed by the Minister of Petroleum on the new discoveries at Al-Rawat Field who explained that three new oil wells were added and that the first of them has begun production of 20,000 barrels per day.
    The Council of Ministers has approved a the national strategy on control on small lights arms for the period 2017 - 2020 through a report which was presented by the Minister of Interior, Gen. (Police) Hamid Mannan.
    The strategy aims to inform about the danger of arms, revitalize the legislations for combating the illegal possession of weapons and enabling the concerned authorities to seize these arms.
    The Cabinet has appreciated the efforts of the concerned authorities and the national campaign for the collection of illegal arms.
    The Council of Ministers deliberated at its regular meeting Thursday on the illegal increase in the prices of commodities and reports that have explained the reduction in the value-added and the exemptions through a report which was presented by the Minister of Industry, Dr. Musa Karama.
    The Cabinet has reviewed a report presented by the Minister of Water Resources, Water and Irrigation, Muttaz Musa, on the performance at the electricity power sector and the measures adopted to reduce the gap in the operation cost.
