Sudan’s Authorities closes UNAMID’s human rights office

Khartoum-SudaneseOnline- Sudanese Government shut down a human rights office belongs to The African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) on Monday, claiming that the office contrasts with the mandate of the mission in accordance with the agreement between Sudan’s government and UNAMID Informed source told Khartoum-based Al-Rai Al-A’am newspaper that Khartoum’s government considers that an office is out of the mandate granted to the mission, pointing out that UNAMID has violated what has been agreed. Sudan’s foreign ministry undersecretary, Abdallah al-Azraq, accused last Friday United States and Western States within the United Nations (UN) of launching unfair campaigns against Sudan and publishing false reports about the incident, stressing that his government casting doubts on statements issued by the US administration on the incident because it is not a neutral party. He added that presence of Sudanese forces in Tabit village was to assist UNAMID troops to perform its duties in accordance with the procedures which have been agreed with the United Nations and the African Union, mocking at UNAMID talk that Sudanese forces prevented it from investigating the incident.
