Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-The (7) rounds of negotiations between Sudan’s Government and Sudan People Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) SPLM-North, at the invitation of the African mediation for resuming talks suspended in April will start today, Wednesday in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. The Assistant to Sudan's President and head of the government delegation for negotiations on the two areas, Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, has renewed Government's keenness to reach just and comprehensive peace with SPLM-N in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile states, disclosing that the Government delegation in the negotiations would cover all the political parties in both States and civil society organizations. Ghandour explained that the Government's vision on the new round "includes a comprehensive cessation of ceasefire and immediate implementation of the previous agreement on the humanitarian situation, as well as the security arrangements, calling on SPLM-N to engage in the political dialogue to consider about participating in the local issue of the Tow Areas and involving in the comprehensive national dialogue to discuss all issues of the country. The border states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile state have been the scene of violent conflict since 2011 when the SPLM-N launched a rebellion against the Khartoum regime. Peace talks between the two parties remain deadlocked after they failed to reach a consensus on negotiations. While the government says it is only willing to discuss the conflict in the Two Areas, the SPLM-N is demanding that the Darfur conflict be included in a unified peace process.
