Sudanese Congress Party Leader banned from travel
|
Khartoum – In the early hours ofSunday, November 02, 2014 the Sudanese Security Organ blocked the Leader of the Sudanese Congress Party (SCP), Mr. Ibrahim al-Sheikh, and banned him from travel.
Mr. al-Sheikh was in his way to the UAE. He was turned away at Khartoum International Airport and his passport confiscated by security operatives while waiting at the departure hall after passing the passport control.
Mr. al-Sheikh was recently released after being reminded in prison for 100 days, without trial or enforcement of any legal proceedings, after publicly criticizing the war crimes committed by government-backed militias in the regions of Darfur and Southern Kurdofan.
The SCP condemned the blatant human rights violations committed by the Security Organs against Mr. al-Sheikh.
The SCP also emphasized that the continuous violations against the party leader and other party members will not deter it from working to achieve its declared goal, which is the toppling of the Al-Inqaz regime through peaceful struggle means, and that it will continue to work among the masses of the Sudanese people and join hands with all national forces that seek to topple this authoritarian and despotic regime and lay solid foundations for democracy, justice, peace.
