Re: Sudanese Author al-Tayyib Salih Subject of Symposium at the Library of Congr (Re: SudaneseOnline News)
|
Dear all; To stop this event, urgently write to your Congress Representative:
Quote: Honorable Representative
It gives me honor to take this opportunity to convey to your Honor this urgent matter about an event organized by Sudan embassy in Washington, DC along with the Congress Library to celebrate the works of the Sudanese writer Eltayeb Salih on August 4, 2014 the same day that coincides with the convening of the US-African leaders Summit Conference in Washington, D.C. I believe that this is an attempt from Sudan embassy to divert the attention of the people from this historical conference and to have a face saving presence for the genocidal regime of Sudan among the representative of the civilized nations. Knowing that Omer Elbashir of Sudan is not invited to this historic conference, they are trying to be present through this event in the Congress Library on the same day of the conference!
According to the advertisement issued by the Library of Congress: “The symposium and the theatrical event are made possible through the generous support of Mohamed Al-Mardi al-Tijani, the Kenana Sugar company; Abd al-Rahman Dirar, the Sudan Telecommunication Company; and Hassan Satti, the White Nile Sugar Company.” Is it allowed for the embassy of Sudan and Sudanese companies to pay for or organize events in the US Congress?
Your help to stop this event which is initiated by Sudan embassy or at least postpone the event to a later date is highly requested. We hope that all faith groups and human rights organizations would be able to organize a big event and a rally to welcome the Sudanese lady Meriam who arrived safely to Italy with her family and met with the Pope at the Vatican and will proceed with her family to US. A show of support for Meriam during the U.S.-African leaders’ summit will also send a strong message to the genocidal Islamist regime of Sudan.
It is urgent and important to take an action and stop the deceptive maneuvers of the Sudanese embassy to beautify the image of the pariah regime of Omer Elbashir, the internationally wanted war criminal.
