Jordon denies apologizing to receive Sudanese President
|
Ammon-The Jordanian Expatriates’ Affairs and Foreign Ministry has denied news that Jordon apologized to receive the Sudanese President for undergoing medical examinations in the Jordanian Kingdom. The spokesman of the Foreign Ministry said in a press statement to Ammon news agency that the Sudanese President did not make a request via the ministry to visit Jordon for medical check-up.
The statement came following news that Jordoan has apologized to receive President Al-Bashir who was intending to make medical tests in Jordon, and that the Jordanian authorities have notified the Sudanese embassy in Amman about the decision.
President Al-Bashir normally travels to the Saudi Arabia for medical examination, but it seems that the recent economic decision against Sudan by the Saudi Arabia, and its stance classifying the Muslim brotherhood as a terrorists organization have pushed President Al-Bashir to change his medical destination.. In March 2009, the ICC issued a warrant of arrest for the Sudanese President who became the first incumbent president to be wanted by the ICC. Jordon is among four Arab countries that are members to the ICC.
