Pro-Sudanese government militias accused of fresh killings in Darfur Khartoum-The Sudan Liberation Movement-Minawi faction has accused the Sudanese government and the pro-government Janjaweed militias of burning down more than 35 villages in South Darfur state. Eye witnesses have said that more than 31 citizens in fresh act of violence in the troubled region that witnesses fighting for more than 10 years. The military spokesperson the Sudan liberation Army Brig. Adam Saleh told Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that the government forces backed by the Janjaweed militias have raided into villages of Om-Gonja, Al-Hijair and others. He added that the government’s forces have provided aerial support via violent bombing allowing the Janajweed forces led by Himadti to burn villages, kill 33 unarmed citizens, rape women and loot properties. The Assistant to the Chairman of the Sudan Liberation for constitutional and legal and human rights affairs, Abdel-Aziz Sama, has said that there are 17.000 UN-AU soldiers in the region with high salaries from the budget of the international community without even writing a report to illustrate the situations on the ground. He accused the mission of taking orders from President Al-Bashir government, He stressed the importance of amending the mandate of the joint UN-AU mission to include protection of civilians and observe the practices of the warring parties in terms of their commitment to the rules of the international humanitarian law. It is to be recalled that the ICC has issued warrant for arrest for the Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir and senior officials including minister of defense Abdel-rahim Mohamed Hussein and governor of North Darfur Ahmed Haroun.
