Dear Mohamed Osman: while it true that the siding of the military made it much easier, they had no other choice. The alternative would have been a blood-shed. I disagree with you that the military involvement was no more than a coup for two reasons. First, the transition period was necessary for political parties to get ready for elections after 16 years of a military dictator regime. Second, the executive branch of that government was all civilians (almost). regards,
