The students’ political wing of Sudan Liberation Movement/Army led by
Abdul Wahid Mohamed Ahmed Al-Nour, known as United People’s Front
(UPF), in response to its campaign of “Stop Genocide and Rape in
Darfur” which was inaugurated on 28th of January 2016. The students
after addressing rallies in Al-Suq Al-Arabi and at Jackson square in
downtown of Khartoum, marched in peaceful demonstrations chanting and
holding slogans of “stop genocide and rape in Darfur”, “ revolution,
revolution until the victory”, “ the ruling of the Junta, must brought
down”, “ The masses want to topple the ruling system”, “No, No to the
ongoing genocide in Darfur” . Furthermore; the students of UPF
distributed to the public thousands of bulletins, encouraging them as
well as the entire political forces of Sudan that; would be the
beneficiaries of the regime change, to come out in the streets and
demonstrate in order to achieve the demanding- change for the common
good of all Sudanese. On the contrary; the security and police force
of Khartoum, used excessive violence against the peaceful protesters,
moreover; they beat them with batons, spraying them with teargas and
fired live ammunition to disperse the students, nevertheless the
students continued with the peaceful demonstrations against all the
odds.
As a result, some students from UPF were arrested by the security
forces; their names are:-
1- Izzeldin Ahmed Abdul Rahman, from Bahri university, faculty of
economics 3th year student
2- Al-teib Yahya Hasabo, from Bahri University, faculty of community
development studies, 3th year student.
3- Abdul Halim Mohamedo Hamad, Al-Zaiem Al-azhari University, faculty
of urban sciences, first year student.
4- Abu elgasim Balaza, Omdurman Islamic University, faculty of
economics and political sciences.
5- Abdalla Omer Ahmed, University of the Holy Quran and Islamic
Sciences, faculty of Arts.
