Khartoum-The South Sudanese Foreign Minister Barnaba Benjamin has accused bodies he did not specify of circulating rumors on tension in relations between Khartoum and Juba in favor of the interests of those who will benefit from any tension in the relations between the two neighbors.
Speaking to the Citizen on the phone, the foreign minister said that the relations between the two Sudans are progressing due to the historical ties and the common interests, stating that" we are now exporting the oil of our country via Sudan in a move that serves the interests of the two people".
He added that the joint agreements of Naivasha peace agreement are progressing as agreed upon.
The year 2012 witnessed tensions over differences over oil transition fees a matter that resulted to stoppage of production for around 18 months. Presidents Al-Bashir and Kiir signed an agreement on oil and security during which each they pledged to stop supporting rebels of each other.
The South Sudan Foreign Minister pointed to the visit of Major General Kwal Miyang to Khartoum to discuss a number of the join files between the two countries. With regard to the news that Khartoum supports Machar rebels, and Juba supports rebels in Darfur. Mr. Benjamin said the relations between the two countries is stable, adding that that "we do not pay attention to these things".
