Sudan’s Al-Bashir listens for a detailed report from the national dialogue committee
|
SudaneseOnline-Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashir will listen tomorrow Sunday to a detailed report from the national dialogue committee known as (7 + 7), with the participation of the parties under the umbrella, and it is expected participation of new parties. The member of the committee Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail told the state-run Sudan Media Center (SMC) ON Friday that he would present to the General Assembly a report on the progress of its work and implementing of the roadmap provisions and what was reached via the liaison Committee with the opposition and movements and figures abroad. Ismail added that his committee will present a proposal to the Assembly that gives it the right to call for convening of the General Conference, along with another proposal to oversee the community. Al-Bashir on his end affirmed that he will not back away from his promises on liberties calling it a moral and political commitment. Last January, Bashir called on political parties and armed groups to engage in a national dialogue to discuss four issues, including ending the civil war, allowing political freedoms, fighting against poverty and revitalizing national identity. He also held a political roundtable in Khartoum last April with the participation of 83 political parties. The opposition alliance of the National Consensus Forces (NCF) boycotted the political roundtable, saying the government did not respond to its conditions.
