Khartoum and the United Nations discuss their relations

Jan 26, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudanese government will convene with United Nations and its specialized agencies today, Monday an important meeting to discuss the arrangements of the internal situation and review of all statutory frameworks of cooperation between Sudan and the international organization. Sources told Khartoum-based Al-Rai Al-A’am that the meeting is expected to put new proposals on how to conduct the various plans and programmes of activities of the United Nations in the Sudan, in addition to search and review shortcomings in all areas. The sources said that the meeting would look at how to maximize the benefit of United Nations activities and programmes development, next to bring and improve the relationship in General. In another context, the paper learned that the 31st of January would be the last day for the U.N. resident coordinator at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ali Al-Za'tari, after the government ordered him to leave the country Sudan had already shut UNAMID's human rights office in Khartoum and called on the mission to prepare an exit plan. The move came days after it denied peacekeepers permission to pay a second visit to the site of alleged mass rapes by Sudanese soldiers in Tabit, a village in Darfur, the western region plagued by conflict.
