Umma and SPLM-North: End of regime is near
|
Khartoum-The National Umma Party and the SPLM-North have called for releasing all political detainees including the leader of the Umma Party Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi and Ibrahim Al-Sheikh. The two parties have said the regime failed to meet the requirements of the public in freedom and food, calling for unity of change powers under a broad-based front to restore democracy.
In a joint statement, the two parties denounced the arrest of Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi and stressed the necessity of stopping his trial, calling for releasing Al-Mahdi and other political detainees. The two parties have said that they are watching the “sunset of the regime and its demise” through its reliance on militias and under the escalation of its internal conflicts”, “ shooting the mercy bullet on national dialogue” and its “failure to fulfill the citizens’ needs of livelihood and services such as health, education and drinking water” .
The statement, which is signed by Sara Nugdalla and Yasir Arman, has called for unity of change powers under a broad-based front to restore democracy under the international charters of human rights, realize comprehensive and justice peace, realize fair power and wealth share and fulfill equal citizenship without discrimination.
