Dear Ustaz Mahmoud and all,
Some people identify some crimes in away that makes crime falls under individual responsibility; Aids is one example. It is related here directly to the person’s deviant behaviour. This is done with the intention to avoid bearing the full responsibility, for political, social and economic reasons, one tool to do that is to keep people in complete ignorance to the whole issue and to continue the denial!
The issue you are discussing here is serious, because it has direct effect on all of us, any one of us could be a victim of Aids. In most of the time people have wrong understanding to Aids and the knowledge of ordinary people to it, is very little. Unfortunately I did not watch the programme you referred to, however, I was able to understand some about it from the article you brought to our attention, and I really feel so sorry to the female victim, as I said before, anyone of us could be that victim!
I would like to go back to deviant behaviour and the state; I would like to argue here that even with deviant behaviour the state is still responsible. How can Aids be a state crime? Because the state should be responsible for our education, awareness, health, and should provide us with both protection and treatment, and this is not happening!
The government of Sudan intentionally refuses to address this issue in a serious matter. The obvious reasons are two, first the Islamic programme it adopts, second the budget that should be located for Aids.
In the first one, the government of Sudan claims a full adoption to an Islamic ideology and in such ideology people do not commit sins, they don’t have sexual relationship out of the marrital institution. Aids is also presented as a result to homosexual relationship, so how can Muslim people have aids as the result of sins or homosexuality? This would damage the image of the Islamic state and would expose its real face to the others! For the state, talking about Aids means it has failed to successfully apply its Islamic programme in Sudan! This will never happen.
Admitting the size of the problem is part of the treatment, without having a full picture about aids including its real statistics will increase the disaster, again this is a state crime, it does not address the problem in order to avoid more spread to Aids and to provide medication to its victims. Aids is transmitted to that lady by blood transfusion, what a tragedy! How many people need this operation done to them every day? How many got it through this operation, which is supposed to save their lives and not kill them? The medical authority should examine the donated blood before giving it to people, Don’t you agree with me, it is a clear state negligence? Sudanese lives are very cheap!
We have also to remember that Aids programmes need budget, this is another dimension and a cause for denying the size of Aids, the regime of Sudan prefers to locate the budget to buy arms and fight its people, than to offer them a good healthy life! Just see the money spent on war, security apparatus and health!
If there are no preventive and protective programmes to Aids, no treatment will ever be offered, a natural result. This is part of the state crimes against Sudanese, denial remains a main characteristics of undemocratic states.
The state fears the reaction of the world especially the Muslim world if they say that Aids is widely spread in Sudan! In many cases, they relate the whole issue to displaced and refugees in Sudan. In a way, they are telling us, these are the people who are not Muslims, who don’t have ethics, they are prostitutes and homosexual and bring us serious diseases, a racist ignorant accusation. This political discourse against displaced is making many innocent people to pay the price now. Do you think displaced people who live poverty has blood to donate? Do you think displaced people have no values at all so they prostitute all the time and spread the disease? And if this happens with whom are they prostituting? Do they know they have it? Are all other Sudanese do not have sexual relations out of marriage? What about those who are born with the disease because their parents had it and most probably they did not know they had it? What about those raped in war zones? What about their unborn children and their husbands? What about victims of poverty in the north, who may prostitute for money?
Muslims are human beings like others, many of them are staying in one relationship and many others are not. Let a lone discussing the issue of polygamy.
Victims of Aids are also blamed by the society, mainly because of their lack of knowledge to causes for Aids. This is also making it very difficult for the victim to show his/her illness fearing the society blame!
Accountability? We all dream of that, it is just like winning the lottery, a meagre chance, but we have at least to seek it with our full strength! The minister of health will never resign my friends; he is part of the whole crime? These people denied Dr Jafa’r ibn Auf the budget for our kids; do you think they will care for adults? Which is more important them staying in power or safety of people?

لك الشكر محمود مصطفى على تحريضى لقراءة هذا البوست والحقيقة اننى قرأته فاحببته تماما كما شاء العنوان
بالاضافه الى المداخلة الممتازه للاستاذه منى خوجلى ..احرضك واحرض كاتبك الجميل ومنى الى الذهاب الى بوست لنايل ون..عن نفس القضية وقد انشىء حساب بالبنك لصالح مساعدة هذه المرأة ، والمعلومات بهذا البوست المعنى..
