كما حدثتكم في هذا البوست الواشنطون تايم تنشر تقريرا صحفييا لعضو البورد الأستاذة ندى أمين. عن أول سوداني (عضو في هذا البورد) إستطاع أن ينفذ خلال الجدار الصلب السميك لدور الصحف الأمريكية و خاصة كصحيفة مثل الواشنطون تايمز , إحدي أعظم و أعته صحف أمريكا اليومية....
إستطاع الأخ متوكل مصطفي الحسين (و عشان ما تزعلي يا مريم بنت الحسين عمك خطير) مستفيدا من وجوده في أرض العم سام و تفهم سيكلوجية الثقافة الأمريكية زائدا عليها علو فهمه و متابعته بما يدور في دواويين منتجي القرارات الأمريكية أو إذ شئت العالمية منها, إستطاع أن يجبرهم للإستماع له و في أشهق منابرهم.

Misjudged Muslims

Much has been written and said in recent days about the Hillary Clinton campaign returning checks of the former executive director of the American Muslim Council, Abdurahman Alamoudi. This is further evidence, we are told, that Muslims have been systematically excluded from the political process by those who wish to maintain a monopoly over political power.
Several top American journalists and pundits, such as columnist Richard Cohen and ABC Commentator George Stephanopoulos, have suggested that only a few, renegade members of these groups have expressed hatred toward the U.S. and support for Middle East terrorist groups, such as Hamas and Hezbollah. They argue that these Muslim organizations have been unjustly blamed for the foolish acts of a few of their members.
As a Muslim and secretary of the IbnKhaldun Society, an Islamic cultural organization, I have a very different perspective, one that I believe is shared by the majority of Muslims in the United States. Many of us in the Muslim community have been continually frustrated by self-appointed leaders who spew hatred toward America and the West and yet claim to be the legitimate spokespersons for the American Muslim community. These groups openly sympathize with Hamas, which the State Department has labeled a terrorist groups, and Hezbollah, a Shi'ite group responsible for acts such as the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut.
Most Muslims, if they have even heard of the American Muslim Council, the Council for American Islamic Relations, Muslim Public Affairs Council, and other such Islamist groups, regard these self-appointed spokesmen as impostors. Indeed, there is a great deal of bitterness that such groups have tarnished the reputation of mainstream Muslims, who do not share their sympathies with Middle East terrorist groups.
Like other immigrant groups, most Muslims want to avail themselves of the opportunities America has to offer and want nothing to do with these hateful, radical ideologies.
Just a few weeks ago, Mr. Alamoudi, the leading figure of the American Muslim Council since its inception in 1991, used the occasion of a demonstration in front of the White House to exclaim "Hear that Bill Clinton: We are all supporters of Hamas. I wish they added that I am also a supporter of Hezbollah."
With such "leaders" at the helm, it is no wonder that things took an ugly turn when, at one D.C. demonstration over the situation in the Middle East, participants began to shout "Khaibar, Khaibar ya Yahud." or "Slaughter the Jews." Such calls are totally at odds with our tradition and a shameful violation of the standards of behavior toward other religions codified in the Koran. We Muslims consider Jews and Christians as spiritual kin, our Holy Book calls them "People of the Book."
When confronted with rifts in the Muslim community, Americans naturally assume such divisions are similar to the tensions existing between various churches or denominations within the Christian and Jewish communities. But schisms in the Muslim community today belong to a very different category. They are between mainstream Muslim immigrants who come to these shores to embrace America, and those who front for a radical political movement, referred to as Islamists. Such groups should not only be kept at arms length from the political process, they should be actively opposed as extremists.
Those in the media who decry the bias against Muslims are not doing mainstream Muslims any favors. They should look at the record of statements of those Islamist leaders and label them the hate-mongers that they are. Only then will we hear the authentic and moderate voice of the American Muslim community.

Approaching the high holy days of the three prominent monotheistic faiths, I would like to extend the greeting of Muslims the world over - as salamu alaykum - peace be unto you.
I am writing to express my gratitude for the Dec. 17 Commentary column, "Misjudged Muslims," by Mustafa Elhussein. While I have never met Mr. Elhussein, I can state with certainty that he represents a majority Muslim view in his assessment of Muslim leadership in the the United States.
As an American who converted to Islam in 1975, I have had the distinct honor of studying my chosen faith, as well as addressing diverse audiences about Islam, women in Islam and Islamic spirituality. Many Americans have come to me seeking guidance and to embrace this universal faith. They are both relieved and surprised to learn that Muslims are so similar to themselves, upholding the same family values and promoting social responsibility.
It is worth mentioning that I have experienced 25 good years in my chosen faith, in large part by avoiding politicking, shouting, angry, undereducated, bigoted Muslim leaders and organizations - those who would ostracize me for exercising a fundamental right, such as opposing their agendas or writing this letter.
They do not represent Islam or mainstream Muslims; they are simply the loudest, and they are supported by those whose interests they represent.
I shudder to think of anyone endorsing an act of terrorism. For a quarter century, I have been outraged by the rhetoric Muslim leaders espouse, which categorically challenges Islamic teachings of the Koran and the majority of scholarly rulings. They make my life more difficult, and have, at times, thrust my Islamic identity into peril.
As a Muslim feminist, activist and academic, I have more freedom in the the United States to practice my faith than in most Muslim societies. I am less likely to be harassed by other Americans than by ignorant, power-seeking, immigrant Muslims whose interpretation of the faith is, at best, corrupted.
I am part of a broad network of "moderate Muslims" who cherish this great nation and what it represents. Again, I thank you for your column.

شكرا يا كوستاوي لنقل مقال الأخ متوكل مصطفى الحسين في الواشنطون تايمز بتاريخ سنة 2000.. وقد لاحظت فيه إسم عبد الرحمن العمودي الذي يقال أن السناتورة هلري كلنتون قد أعادت إليه شيكا كان قد تبرع به بإسم منظمة إسلامية..
الآن يقبع عبد الرحمن العمودي في السجن في أمريكا وقد جاءت الأخبار أنه متواطئ مع جهات أخرى في مؤامرة تستهدف حياة الأمير عبد الله بن عبد العزيز آل سعود.. نفس المؤامرة التي يُقال أن العقيد الليبي متورط فيها..
وحاجات غريبة.. تعيش كتير تشوف كتير..

عمو كوستاوي.. والله امس لما قريت اسمه .. راسي كبر .. وسعدت بيهو جداً.. وقلت أتصل بيهو واشاغله بيها...وقلت أتابع (من سُكات).. لكن وقت جبتها اسمي النتكلم ... عمو (كوكي) زي ما بنسميه أصغر أعمامي، أعتبر انه من التطاول أن (أشكّره) لكنه شخصيه استثنائية بكل التفاصيل التي تحيط به... فخورة بك جداً عمي... وفخورة بالأستاذة ندى أمين... تلك الرائعة التي رفعت رأس النساء (جميعاً)... هل ستحضر الأستاذة مؤتمر فيينا يا تُرى؟؟ نتمنى ذلك جداً...
