The American Election and the Magic of Macaca

Oh boy, it was a long night. With the victory of Webb in Virginia, the Democratic party

will control both the house, and the senate for the first time since 1994. I am optimist

to see the end of the era of Don, and the neo conservatives. The magic of Macaca haunted the Republicn party in this important election. After all, the Republicans lost because of the president, Iraq, corruption, and the magic of macaca
    Regards

Re: The American Election and the Magic of Macaca (Re: Elmoiz Abunura)

    Dear friends
With the election of Jim Webb, the Democratic party will be in control of both houses of the congress. The democrats gained 28 seats in the house of representatives, and in the new senate, the Democratic party and its alliances have 51 seats, while the Republican party has 49 seats. The major question is that what will be the impact of the Democratic party victory's on the American foreign policy in general, and the policies towards Sudan in particular? Regards

    Dear Elmoiz

Congratulations of the victory of Democratic party against the KIZAN of US.
Those who made wars around the whole globe in the name of Fighting terrorist.
They have the same ideas and using same methods like our Kizan.
He kills Millions in Iraq and pray three times a day with his staff asking God bless America
George Bush treat Ingaz gangs very softly even the disaster in Darfur.
I hope they will be real change in foreign politics to help us in Sudan to remove the Ingaz gangs and restore democracy

Re: The American Election and the Magic of Macaca (Re: Elmoiz Abunura)

Here is Letter sent by him to Amr Musa about Darfur
    Quote:

    October 10, 2006

    His Excellency Amr Moussa

    Secretary General

    The League of Arab States

    28 Adly 7th Floor

    Cairo, Egypt

    Dear Secretary General Moussa:

We write to request that you employ all diplomatic means available to urge President Omar Hassan El-Bashir to halt Sudan’s military offensive in Darfur, withdraw Sudanese troops from the area, and facilitate the deployment of UN peacekeepers to the region.

As you are aware, the conflict in Darfur has intensified over the past four months— despite numerous agreements and United Nations resolutions, including Security Council Resolution 1706 authorizing the transition of the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) into a United Nations mission. Over the course of the conflict, Janjaweed, Sudanese government forces and rebel militias have driven more than 200,000 refugees into Chad. Two million people have been displaced— 50,000 of them in the last four months alone. More than 200,000 people have lost their lives, and thousands of women have been raped and assaulted as part of a campaign of ethnic cleansing. Humanitarian operations have also been attacked and disrupted, leaving millions of people—the majority of them women and children— without access to food, water and health care.

The Arab League’s offer to dispatch a contingent of Muslim and Arab troops to Darfur as peacekeepers over the weekend has been rejected by Khartoum, and the government of Sudan has offered no alternative solutions. The situation on the ground remains dire. We ask you to urge Arab League members— particularly Qatar, which abstained from the last UNSC vote— to strongly encourage Khartoum to comply with resolution 1706. We commend the Arab League’s pledge last March of $150 million for the AMIS mission, beginning on October 1, 2006. Though AMIS’s mandate was to have expired on September 30, 2006, its extension until January 2007 provides a golden opportunity to fulfill its pledge and play a productive role in resolving the crisis in Darfur. Arab League voices on this matter can save thousands of lives by helping to bring peace and security to Sudan, Chad and other countries in the region.

We are committed to doing what we can to protect civilians in Sudan and Chad from further violence and bloodshed, to find a just resolution to the political conflict, and to help Darfur on its long path to reconstruction. Since the conclusion of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, we have begun to see peace and development returning to southern Sudan with the assistance of UN Mission in Sudan. It is now time for us to work together as an international community to make the same progress in Darfur.

Deployment of a UN mission is the best option to enforce the ceasefire, protect civilians, ensure access to humanitarian assistance, and begin to rebuild Darfur.

    Sincerely,

    U.S. Senator Joseph R. Biden, Jr (D-DE)

    U.S. Senator Bill Frist (R-TN)

In our campaign to release the Sudanese prisoner of conscience in Egypt, Ms Nadia Abdelnour during 2001, senator Joe Biden was one of the strong supporter to the successful campaign to release Nadia from the Egyptian prisons

Re: The American Election and the Magic of Macaca (Re: Elmoiz Abunura)

    Dear friends
With the concession of senator George Allen to his defeat in Virginia, the macacas completed their victory and revenge. Like our African hero Patrice Lumumba who said in his famous speech " We are no longer your macaques" to the Belgian authority, non white population of Virginia said to senator Allen, and the Republican party in this election we are no longer your macacas. The term " Macaca" is a racial slur used by the Belgian colonists in Congo to refer to the indeginous people of Congo. In his failed election bid, senator Allen used the racial slur " Macaca" to refer to a young man of East Indian descent. By using the term " Macaca", the vanquisable senator Allen didn't know that he opened the " Pandora box" of racism which will haunt them, and his party in the election. Non white population of Virginia voted heavily against Allen, and his paty, and cost him his seat, and cost the Republican party the senate

Elections may shift U.S. Iraq war policy By ANNE GEARAN, AP Diplomatic Writer
    1 hour, 54 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Democratic control of Congress, public dislike for the Iraq war and the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld could open the door for a policy shift in the conflict, but early maneuvering for the 2008 presidential election could slam the door shut.

What happens will depend largely on how the White House, leaders of both parties and the candidates to replace President Bush in two years interpret the results of this week's voting and seek political footing for the 2008 race, analysts said.

Although both parties want to salvage political and military success in Iraq for its own sake, the war's prominence as a political issue complicates bipartisan cooperation.

That may be especially true for Democrats if they conclude that anything shy of a demand for fast withdrawal of U.S. troops looks wishy-washy, or that the modest course changes possible by cooperating with Republicans would be jumping onto a sinking ship.

Cooperation is possible if both parties see it in their interest to lower the political temperature on Iraq, making it less of a rallying cry for the next campaign, said James Carafano, senior fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation. He argued that both parties and the country would benefit.

"There is a remarkable opportunity to change the politics, for Democrats and the president to take the Iraq issue off the table as an issue to play political pingpong with," said Carafano, who studies politics and military issues.

More than half of voters said they disapproved of the war in Iraq, wanted troops to start coming home and didn't think the war has improved security in the United States, according to exit polls conducted Tuesday for The Associated Press and the television networks. Those most unhappy with the war helped put Democrats in control of Congress.

Democrats say the first step to repairing the situation in Iraq is putting substantial pressure on its government to take more responsibility. The best way to do this, they say, is by pulling out some troops right away to signal the U.S. commitment is finite.

Democrats also have called on Bush to convene an international conference on Iraq and say the military mission should begin to switch from a leading role to a supportive one.

Other proposals the administration may be asked to consider include a regional dialogue with U.S. adversaries Iran and Syria, or remaking the Iraq political federation into three largely autonomous sectarian states.

Major changes such as a wholesale withdrawal of troops are unlikely in the near term.

Bush's reversal of fortune this week means he can entertain ideas from his own generals and advisers that would have looked like an admission of failure before the voting, conservative and liberal analysts said.

The changed political circumstances also mean Bush can look statesmanlike by adopting recommendations from Democrats or from an independent bipartisan panel headed by former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, whose report is due soon.

Democrats who take control of Congress in January say they will try using their clout to force a change in Iraq policy and demand that Bush start bringing troops home.

Though Democrats are divided over exactly what to propose, they say their effort will send a loud political signal to disgruntled U.S. voters, and to Iraqis to assume more responsibility.

Rumsfeld's departure could offer a path to compromise and an opportunity for the White House to pivot from some of his hardline positions.

Bush chose a far less divisive figure, former CIA director Robert Gates, to succeed Rumsfeld. Bush came close to conceding that Rumsfeld was the roadblock to new policy that his critics claimed.

"Secretary Rumsfeld and I agreed that sometimes it's necessary to have a fresh perspective," Bush said in the surprise announcement Wednesday.

"I think history has shown that switching one person can make a difference," said Lawrence J. Korb, assistant defense secretary under President Reagan and now senior fellow at the liberal Center for American Progress.

Korb pointed to the Vietnam War, when Clark Clifford took over for hawkish Defense Secretary Robert McNamara.

"Within a month President Johnson had basically offered to begin negotiating with the North Vietnamese," Korb said.

Gates has served on the Iraq study commission led by Baker and former Democratic Rep. Lee Hamilton of Indiana, signaling that the group could offer the White House a palatable way to shift gears.

"I think there is a real possibility for a bipartisan approach to our foreign policy," said Sen. Joseph Biden (news, bio, voting record), D-Del., expected to lead the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

"The Baker-Hamilton commission obviously would be one of the most likely places to build that consensus and give the administration the necessary ... political room to be able to make a radical change. At least I hope that's what will happen," Biden said.

Re: The American Election and the Magic of Macaca (Re: Elmoiz Abunura)

    Dear friends
I have read in Alray Alam today the expectaions of some Sudanese of the impact of the American election, and the victory of the Democratic party on the American foreign policy towards Sudan. Allow me to share with you their comments

    Dear Salah
Glad to hear from you. Having read your name just right now in a post about the beautiful chanting of the Republican sisters, I was wondering if Salah Musa is the same person who was my friend in my childhood in Kosti of 1960s, and Kosti High school. Still vivid in my memory our days in Algooz, and Alsika Hadeed. I am optimist with the results of the mid term election, and hope to see positive impacts on the American policy towards Sudan. Please drop me a line with your contact numbers at
