The supression has been fierce. A thousand students were arrested, flogged and tortured in 2011. Rape and harassment are used as weapons of suppression, especially against women.During the uprising of 2013, more than 200 young demonstrators were killed by the bullets of the regime.Professionals, doctors, lawyers, judges, and engineers, organise and demonstrate alongside the youth.Since December 19th 2018, massive demonstrations have occured in all of Sudan’s cities. Marches to the presidential palace took place on December 25th and 31st.The government’s liberal politicsGovernment's decision to pass an austerity law aiming to reduce the budget dedicated to public service, the suppression of fuel national subsidies, and the exorbitant rise of staple commodities’ prices led to this series of uprisings. The multiple currency devaluations and the liquidity crisis during the last few months were the final straws. The abusive corruption of the regime is added to its submission to the austerity politics imposed by the IMF.Suppression goes onSuppression was bloody in the last years and very young people died. Over 40 people were killed in just a few days at the beginning December/January 2018/2019 uprising. The police shoots at demonstrators with snipers from the roofs of Khartoum's buildings. The fascist regime of Bashir has practiced torture on opponents since 1989. International and Pan African SolidarityInternational mobilisation is urgent before yet another political disaster happens in an African country. The regime's ferocity is the reflection of its extreme weakness. Its fall is really possible and the Sudanese youth, more determined than ever, face the bullets massively with immense courage to obtain freedom. The Sudanese diaspora is mobilising all over the world, including in Europe where the Sudanese refugees regularly organize demonstrations and rallies.Strong international solidarity is the only way to apply pressure to end the suppression of the Sudanese that are dying by the bullets of the regime, and to enable the Sudanese people to continue organising and protesting until the fall of the regime. We call for everyone to join in solidarity with the Sudanese people and for mobilisation against the suppression of the demonstrators, against the dictatorial regime and for a genuine national liberation.Signatories:France: Cases Rebelles- Ligue panafricaine Umoja - Mwasi afrofeminist collective - Quilombo - Sawtche afrofeminist collective – United MigrantsUK: Black lives matterLe Club est l'espace de libre expression des abonnés de Mediapart.
