TELL CANADA'S LEADERS TO TAKE ACTION TO SAVE DARFUR
Dear Concerned Sudanese Canadians,
The crisis in Darfur, Sudan has been called the "worst humanitarian crisis in the world" by the United Nations. Since February 2003, 400,000 people have died and 2.5 million are currently displaced due to the aggression and crimes of the government of Sudan and janjaweed militias. The Canadian government has the ability to make a difference for the people of Darfur, but it has not yet felt the public pressure to do so.
As Canada is heading to the polls, candidates should know that there will be political consequences for inaction.
Please join STAND (Students Taking Action Now: Darfur) Canada, Canadian Students for Darfur, the Genocide Intervention Network, STAND US, and many others in ensuring that Darfur stays on the radar screen of all candidates this election .

1. . Your responses will be presented to candidates in ridings across the country – demonstrating to Canada's political leaders that their constituents do care about Darfur, and that their inaction will come at a price.
2. Check out the CANDIDATE REPORT CARD . STAND Canada has sent your candidates a survey regarding their position on the issue of Darfur. We will post their responses on our website as they arrive so that you can make an informed decision on Election Day. Check the site before January 23 to see what your candidates said.

Dear Sudanese fellows
Is there a candidate running in your constituency who supports the case of Sudan in general and Darfur and the South in particular?
For the folks in London Ontario:
Glen Pearson and his wife Jane run Canadian Aid for South Sudan which have done goo! d work in helping the people of south Sudan in rebuilding their lives after 50 years of civil war. Glen is running in London-Fanshawe as a Liberal candidate. He will undoubtedly champion Sudan if elected. If you live in the vicinity, please take the time to help out in his campaign. Hey, I am endorsing NDP, but if I know a candidate who is keen about Sudan issues among the LIBERAL candidates, I will support her/him
Candidates are always looking for a venue to speak to reach as many constituents as possible. So invite the candidates to speak at your school, mosque or club/ organization. After speaking and peppering him with questions, speak to him/her over coffee and tell him/her how vital! this issue is to you and that a stronger Canadian stand is needed.
Governments act when more M.Ps consider this an important issue and raise it in their caucus. M.P.s will consider it an important issue if more of their constituents feel passionate about it.
So get involved and thanks for making a difference!
