Biographical Sketch
Dr. Eltoum received his medical degree from the School of Medicine University of Khartoum, Sudan (1983), where he subsequently did a residency in Clinical Pathology and received a master degree in clinical pathology. Then he was appointed as an assistant professor at his alma mater. In 1993 he finished a postdoctoral fellowship at the NIH then he did a residency training in Anatomic Pathology at George Washington University, and a cytopathology and a surgical pathology fellowships at the Department of Pathology, University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he currently ######### the Cytopathology Section at the Division of Anatomic Pathology, Department of Pathology and direct the Cytotechnology School, School of Allied Health Professions.

Description
Dr. Eltoum's clinical interest involves general diagnostic cytology and surgical pathology. In particular he is interested in cytologic, histologic features and biomarkers that are associated with tumor progression and patient's survival in prostate, cervical and pancreatic tumors. He is also interested in utilization of new techniques in diagnostic cytopathology particularly FISH analysis, HPV DNA testing and EUS-FNA.
