Quote: 2014 Sudan Fulbright Program Call for Applications The United States Embassy Khartoum is now accepting applications for the 2014 Fulbright Junior Staff Development Program (Foreign Student Program). This program will award grants to Sudanese graduates or near graduates to pursue an advanced degree, non-degree, or research program in the United States. The Sudan Fulbright Program is designed primarily to strengthen ties between US and Sudanese scholars. Although core exchanges are with universities, candidates who are affiliated with other educational, cultural, or professional institutions may apply. Eligibility Requirements Successful applicants for the Sudan Fulbright Program must meet all of the following criteria: -- Must be citizens or nationals of Sudan, or permanent residents holding a valid Sudanese passport. -- Have at least the #####alent of 4 years of university study and the #####alent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree. --Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree --Be fluent in English --Have outstanding academic records, references and preparation in their chosen field, --Have satisfactory required test scores (GRE, TOEFL, GMAT etc.) --Have high motivation and a serious commitment to completing the program within a specific time-frame and returning home immediately after the approved program. --Applications must detail the applicant’s specific area of intended academic emphasis within the broader discipline. --Applicants seeking to pursue a Ph.D. must detail their intended research area and be prepared to submit a writing sample. --Cannot have received more than one Fulbright Student Program grant. This applies to Humphrey Scholar alumni. -- Local employees of U.S. missions abroad employed by the State Department are ineligible for grants during the period of their employment and for one year following the termination of employment. -- Cannot have received more than one Fulbright Student Program grant. This applies to Humphrey Scholar alumni. Application/Selection Process All applications must be submitted using the on-line application forms at http://foreign.fulbrightonline.org/fulbrightpage.html Copies of certificates, transcripts and letters of recommendation should be uploaded onto each applicants online application. Only final nominees will be required to take the TOEFL and GRE tests after screening and interviews. We do not require test scores at this initial application stage. Applicants are free to attached score reports is they have them. Applications must be submitted no later than May 15, 2014. All applications are reviewed by a local selection panel. Final nominations are reviewed in the United States by independent review committees. Final selection of awardees is made by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. While applicants can specify where they would like to study in the U.S., ultimate institutional placement for successful candidates will be made by the Institute of International Education (IIE). Awards and university placement will be announced in Spring 2015 for programs beginning in Autumn 2015. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted after review of the applications. Grant Provisions The Fulbright Junior Staff Development Program provides: • Round-trip economy international travel and excess-baggage allowance. • An allowance for settling in. • A pre-academic orientation program. • A monthly maintenance allowance and funding for books • Tuition and university fees. • Limited accident and sickness insurance. • Academic training.
