A Rose in the Shadow of Death
|
A Rose in the Shadow of Death On Wednesday September 15th, 2010, my mother passed away, peacefully. I loved her dearly, in truth. She is my loving mother. I confess that she loved me, and my older sister Fatima Alreela, deeply.
Rosa Ibrahim Mohamed Ismaiel showed compassion not only for my sisters, my younger brother Mahmoud, our friends and relatives, but each person she met who needed her care. You are the tree whose branches shelter birds. I cannot count all the lives that you have touched with your loving heart.
Mother, the difference you made in my life is perfectly clear. All the things that matter in my life: my relationships with people, my passion for human rights and needs, my travels, my love of Math and my education, would not have been possible without your love, support, and faith in me.
Rosa, I will always cherish your memory deep in my heart. May your soul rest in eternal peace. Your loving son, Mohamed Gadkarim

Dear Nun Sara, Ustazi Talha Alsayed, and talented friend Adil M. Osman. Thank you all. Rosa represents the light, hope, and love in my life. The rose remains the symbol of beauty and growth, an eternal source of wisdom that transcends ignorance. To Adil, and Sawi; the feminine name Rosa is of Latin origin. The word Rhoda is derived from the Latin word Rhode < rhodon, rose < Old Persian ‘wrda’ < Arabic, ward>. I may also claim the Greek word, Rhode Best regards, Mohamed Gadkarim

Thanks For Your Compassionate Support
Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for your prayers and visits. For years, Mohamed has made arrangements to meet the needs of the Sudanese community, without much positive response. Recently he has felt very discouraged and unappreciated. The sincerity and depth of your condolences came just when he most needed it. We have been tremendously comforted, seeing the generosity of the community come back to our doorstep. Your kindness is holding us with strength and gentleness.
May God’s blessings be with each one of you! Amy J. Nicholson

Friends, I would like to share with you this email that I have received from Abdalla Adam
Mohamed Gadkarim What a sad evening for me when i received a phone call Sunday from Ahmed Mahmoud in Ohio, to deliver the news that: HAJA Rosa has past a way, may Allah accept her and bless you , Mahmoud, Alreela,Gisma, and your other sisters, uncle Mohamed Ibrahim, her many grandsons and daughters and all of us that knew her, may Allah bless all of you with patience and comfort. Mohamed, I know there is little that I can say to bring comfort at this difficult time, but may it help to ease the pain to know that there are many hearts that understand and care, and remember to carry her message and you shall never be separated. Thanks, and I hope I will be able to find you phone to call you or even be able to see you in Ohio, ABDALLA M ADAM JACKSONVILLE, FL.

Thank you everyone for your post. I do apologize for resending this message twice; because part of the original text wasn’t readable.
Rosa represents the light, hope, and love in my life. The rose remains the symbol of beauty and growth, an eternal source of wisdom that transcends ignorance.
To Adil, and Sawi; the feminine name Rosa is of Latin origin. The word Rhoda is derived from the Latin word Rhode< Greek word Rhod ē < rhodon, rose < Old Persian ‘wrda’ < Arabic, ward>.
I may also claim the Greek word; Rhode[ē ] has its roots in Old Nubia language and derived from the word “Roda”. Later on the Arabs replaced the “d” with “dh”; the character that distinguishes the Arabic language from other local languages in that area.
The version of my uncle: My uncle Mohamed Ibrahim explained that his father (my grandfather) had been given the name (Abu Rosa) even before her birth. He was named after his great grandfather, who named his daughter after a Turkish officer’s sister. Perhaps, my great grandfather liked that Turkish woman. Best regards, Mohamed Gadkarim
