Post-doc for Africa-based Scholars The Program of African Studies and the University Press of Northwestern University invite applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship generously supported by the Mellon Foundation. Applications are invited from Africa-based scholars who have completed their PhD in African universities within the past five years. The successful applicant will be expected to revise his/her dissertation for publication by the Northwestern University Press subject to external peer-review, teach one course in his/her field of study, and participate in the intellectual life of the Program of African Studies and Northwestern University. Discipline and field are open, and scholars working in the broad area of Islam in sub-Saharan Africa are especially encouraged to apply. The tenure of the fellowship starts from January 2010 and ends September 2010. Amount of the fellowship is $40,000 + benefits. Applicants should send a letter of interest explaining research and scholarly interests; current curriculum vitae; a five-page description of how they intend to revise their dissertation for publication; a dissertation chapter; and three (3) letters of recommendation, including one from the dissertation advisor.
