shoe screening device !!
|
A Transportation Security Administration official demonstrates a shoe screening device 25 July 2003 at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. The device was invented by Transportation Security Administration official Rick Spencer of Rockford, Illinois, and produced by his neighbor, 15-year-old Boy Scout Josh Pfluger, for an Eagle Scout project. The contraption contains a small metal detector held by rubber bands and indicates if customers' shoe-metal would set off alarms, passing through airport security checks. Called "a feel-good customer service option" by the TSA, 12 homemade shoe-checkers are currently in use at the airport.
