Yesterday, President Obama announced the appointment of a Special Envoy for Sudan. For this crucial position, he selected retired Air Force Major General J. Scott Gration. The appointment of this high-level envoy sends a clear signal that peace in Sudan is a priority for the Administration. Special Envoy Gration has been appointed at a critical juncture following the Government of Sudan's March 4 expulsion of humanitarian aid groups from Darfur. Immediate action is needed to get humanitarian aid back to the 1 million Darfuris that are now at risk without assistance.

Call 1-800-GENOCIDE today. Thank the President for appointing a Special Envoy and urge him to get humanitarian aid groups back into Darfur.

This important step to appoint a Special Envoy has been supported by your actions during these last few weeks. On Day 25, you called the White House to demand an envoy. Just a few short days ago, you flooded the White House fax lines to show the President that we are not going to stop pushing for action in Darfur. This is a significant victory for the anti-genocide movement, and now it's up to us to make sure Gration takes action.

Call the 1-800-GENOCIDE today to thank President Obama for appointing a Special Envoy and urge him to get humanitarian aid groups back into Darfur.
