The Islamist terrorist battalions, allied with the Sudanese army, continue their brutal massacres against innocent civilians. This time, after seizing control of Um Rawaba in North Kordofan, they have turned it into a scene of unspeakable horror—a place where the blood of the innocent is shed mercilessly, their only crime being their existence in a time dominated by death. In a nightmarish and barbaric display that shames humanity and breaks hearts, the Al-Baraa battalions, in a sinister alliance with the army, carried out mass executions and brutal killings of innocent civilians. Their justification؟ Baseless suspicions of collaboration with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). These false accusations serve as nothing more than a flimsy pretext to expedite cold-blooded murder—an unjust, illegal, and inhumane trial that condemns defenseless citizens who simply chose to remain in their homes and homeland.
The first victim of this horror was Professor Al-Tayeb Abdullah, the Director of Education in Um Rawaba. He was slaughtered in front of helpless onlookers by the terrorist battalions in a scene that fills the soul with agony and despair. Yet, what is even more terrifying than his death is the sheer brutality inflicted upon him—acts so cruel that words fail to capture them. His murder was only the beginning. Many more innocent individuals were targeted and executed under the same fabricated charges of collaborating with the RSF.
This tragic scenario has played out before in other areas, such as Wad Madani in Al-Jazeera State, particularly against the Kanabi communities, as well as in Shambat in Bahri after the army took control. Now, Um Rawaba has become the latest victim of this ruthless campaign.
The horror is amplified by a complete media blackout and the total shutdown of communications in Um Rawaba, leaving the fate of its residents unknown. No one can hear their cries, and the world remains blind to their suffering. No one knows if a new day will come when hope will rise again for the people of Um Rawaba.
Previously, Sudanese military aircraft launched devastating airstrikes on Um Rawaba, targeting civilian areas and leaving devastation in their wake. In response, thousands of residents took to the streets in protest, condemning the army’s ruthless attacks on innocent civilians. But when the Al-Baraa battalions and the Sudanese army seized control of the city, the people’s worst fears were realized. The punishment for speaking out was swift and merciless. The Al-Baraa battalions had prepared execution lists—dozens of names, each belonging to someone who had dared to appear in videos protesting the army’s airstrikes. One by one, they were hunted down and executed.
What is happening in Um Rawaba is nothing less than a first-degree crime against humanity—a crime against justice, human rights, and human dignity. Every bullet fired, every drop of blood spilled, is a stain on the conscience of the world. Mere condemnation is no longer enough. This moment demands action.
To all those whose hearts beat for justice, to every human rights advocate across the globe—if ever there was a time to act, it is now. The world must rise to stop these atrocities. International bodies and organizations must be pressured into taking decisive action, protecting innocent Sudanese civilians from the machinery of death, and ensuring that those responsible for these crimes are brought before international justice.
Sudan needs the conscience of humanity to awaken. The world must not turn a blind eye to a people crying out for life and justice. Look into their eyes—eyes filled with unbearable pain—and you will understand that silence now is just another crime against humanity.
