Burma, a native of the oil rich region of Abyei, belongs to the Arab tribe of Messiriyah which has a strong presence in the region. The Umma party enjoys substantial support among the Messiriyah tribe.
On 11 October, the SPLM suspended its participation in the government of national unity to protest against the delay in the implementation of the 2005 peace deal
Last week Sudanese president Omar Hassan Al-Bashir said that the NCP is committed to the Abyei Protocol only with the border of 1905. He further said the government is not concerned with Abyei Boundaries Commission (ABC) report and that the latter is of no value to them.
The Umma party has generally been supportive of Khartoum’s stance on Abyei and considers it to be part of the North. Some of the Messiriyah tribe leaders have threatened to take arms if forced to be part of the South.

هل بسبب النفط جعلت أبيي دار او جزء من الشمال ؟انت مش سوداني اصيل لذلك تكذب على العالم بسبب وجود النفط ان ابيي جزء من الشمال..
ان الشمال يريد احتلال منطقة تابعة لدار الدينكا وحينها نحن مستعدين لدخول حرب لخمسين سنة اخرى حول منطقة تقع وسط مناطق الدينكا اقول انت كاتب ظالم وجائر لن يؤخذ أبيي وتتبع لشمال ابدا ..نحن مستعدون لمواجهة الاعداء والاحتلال.
كف عن الكذب والنفاق واكتب الحقيقة حتى لو ضار هذا هو صفة الصحفي ان يتحري الحق والحقيقية.
كتاباتك تلك عبارة عن الدجل والنفاق والكذب لن تفيد العمل الصحفي المهنى.
تسقط اقلام الكاذب الظالم المنافق. |

اوضح لي يااخ بجونك اين قلت في اي مقالة لي ان ابيي جزء من الشمال؟؟؟ يبدو انك فهمت الجملة غلط. انا كنت اتحدث عن فضل الله برمة انه ينتمي لقبيلة المسيرية ولم اقل ان ابيي ملك المسيرية.اقرا الجملة بتمعن وانتبه للفواصل!
وبعدين لست انا الذي اخد المواقف في سياق عملي الصحفي الذي يتطلب الحياد التام. عيب عليك هذه الألفاظ وهذا المستوى

Brother Zakaria please understand that my personal opinions and beliefs do not play any role in my reporting. Rest assured of that. Our credibility and balanced reporting mean alot to us in Sudan Tribune. As far as errors all news agencies make mistakes on a daily basis and correct it in later editions. This is normal. Contentious issue such as that of Abyei requires careful and balanced reporting. You can not take one side of the story for granted without cross checking it. That is all. We are all prone to making mistakes.

Well the bottomline is that I did not take sides. What you are talking about is a factual error related to background info. While Burma is not from Abyei, he is still from Al-Meseriya tribe. It is not for my place to say Abyei belongs to one party or the other.
