Members of Election Commission take oath before President

Khartoum-The new members of the Sudanese Election Commission sworn in before the President of the Republic Omer Al-Bashir in the presence of chief judge at the Presidential palace on Monday. The Chairman of the Commission Mukhtar Al-Asam has affirmed conduct of elections as scheduled in early 2015.

President Al-Bashir issued on Sunday a republican palace appointing Mukhtar Al-Asam as chairman of the commission and Abdalla Ahmed Mahdi as deputy chairman and Dr. Subhi Fanos and ambassador Atalla Hamad Al-Bashir as members.

In press statements upon the oath-taking, Al-Asam said that President Al-bashir stressed the necessity of transparency and honesty in the coming elections.

He said President Al-Bashir has affirmed that the government will not interfere in its work and that it is able to commence work freely.
