MPs express discontent over Sudan Airway decline

Khartoum-Deputies of the Parliament have expressed their displeasure over the constant decline of the Sudan Airways, accusing it of brokering the citizens as uses other companies for the travelling. The deputies have called for increasing the fleet of the company.
The deputies have revealed that the debts of Sudan Airways, after having it back from the Kuwaiti Arif Company, have reached 41 million dollars, urging to move legal actions to restore Heathrow line and bring those involved in selling it to accountable.
In the meantime, the deputy in the Parliament Mohamed Ali Al-Azrag has disclosed selling of two ships known as White Nile and Darfur “under the pretext” of their inability to work. He pointed out that a ship was sold at earlier time under the same pretext but it turned out it was sound and that the buyer was able to ship it with commodities with a value equivalent to half of its price.
The Minister of Road, Transport and Bridges Ahmed Babiker Nahar , who was at the parliament to discuss the performance report of his ministry for 2013 after its approval on Tuesday, said that the two ships were proved to be not workable five years ago and that the maintenance cost is bigger than buying a new ship. He added that this operation was made in accordance with the legal measures with the concerned bodies.
