Al-Bashir and Kiir will discuss sensitive files today: Sudanese Ambassador to Juba
|
Khartoum-SudaneseOnline- Sudanese Ambassador to Juba, Mutraf Sidiq, described the planned visit of South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit to Khartoum today as “crucial”, adding that highly sensitive files will be on the table of negotiations between the two presidents, such as allegations of support and shelter for rebels from both sides, transitional arrangements in Abyei, and implement of the joint agreements between Khartoum and Juba. in a press conference he held on Monday, Sidiq said that Khartoum is seeking for strategic rather than tactical option to address their issues with Juba, pointing out that the large delegation accompanying Salva Kiir is an indication that the visit will be in touch with important and sensitive files in the relation of the two countries, noting that presence of the Defence Minister and directors of Security Service within the Sothern delegation reaffirms Juba’s readiness to discuss the security issue and demilitarized zone, next to the discussion of joint action for debt relief and the lifting of unilateral sanctions and export oil. He confirmed that Sudan prefers the political settlement in South Sudan, indicating that it is not in the interest of Sudan that South Sudan to be in disturbed situation or chaos because that reflects on Sudan, and in the opening of the crossing points in font selection of zero, however he added there are exceptions such as the flow of oil and the entry of relief. He denied the presence of any foreign troops to protect oil and considered that a question of sovereignty.
