Sudan urges the US to reverse its stance on Doha peace document on Darfur
|
Khartoum-The Sudanese government, on Wednesday, refused a US proposal to hold new talks on Darfur peace, and to overcome Doha peace agreement that was signed between the government and a number of the armed movements in the region on the ground that it is no longer effective.
The Sudanese government urged the US administration to reverse its passive stance toward the Doha peace document on Darfur peace, and respect the resolutions of the international Security Council and the African Peace and Security Council in this regard.
The Darfur peace follow-up office reiterated the Sudanese government stance toward the Doha peace agreement as a base for any effort to accomplish peace in Darfur, and dismissed any idea to establish any alternative forum.
The government statement was in response to the speech by the representative of the US government in the African Peace and Security Council during which she said that the Doha agreement is no longer effective, and called for a new forum
