China welcomes visit of South Sudan’s president to Sudan
|
Beijing- Chinese Foreign Ministry welcomed on Wednesday the agreement reached between Sudan and South Sudan and called on the two countries to continue to improve their relations. Commenting on the visit of South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, to Sudan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Hong Lei, said at a press conference on Wednesday that China appreciates the position of the two sides and the ongoing efforts of the international community, especially the African Union (AU) in this regard. Lei stated that China welcomes the agreement and hopes that the two countries would take the visit as an opportunity to further improving and developing their relations, adding that as China always want to push negotiations to resolve their disputes. The Chinese spokesman said that Chinese Special Representative on African Affairs met with South Sudan’s President and Sudan’s Foreign Minister, explaining that his country will continue to work with the international community to promote the improvement and progress of relations between the Sudan and South Sudan and will play a positive role in this regard. "
