Press release concerning the restructuring of the SLM/A

During his visit to the liberated areas (SLM/A-held territories) in Darfur, Mr. Ahmed Abdelshafie (Toba), the Chairman of the SLM/A, has established a task force (commission) consisting of five members to hold wide consultations with the field commanders to find remedies to the Movement’s ailing structure.  We are pleased to announce that, the recommendations of that task force are now before the Chairman of the SLM/A.  Below are the recommendations:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.      <!--[endif]-->The SLM/A’s hierarchy shall consist of three levels (organs):

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Supreme Command Council;

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Executive Bureau;

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·        <!--[endif]-->Revolutionary Council. 

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.      <!--[endif]-->The Chairman of the SLM/A shall be the Commander in Chief of the Sudan Liberation Army;

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.      <!--[endif]-->Steps shall, immediately, be taken to start the healing and the reconciliation process.

The SLM/A military and political leaders (inside Sudan and abroad) are now holding consultations with all sections/divisions of the Movement to adopt these recommendations.  We expect that, these consultations will be concluded in the very near future.
