On July 26th, 2005 at 23:00 hours, the Sudanese government force based in Argi in conjunction with Janjaweed militias located in Fono raided the area from Fono till Khor Ain Seiro. The offensive was mainly aimed at 3 villages, Dema, Luke and Khor Ain Seiro, where the trapped civilians took refuge.
Sudan Liberation Movement command force in the area resisted the raid. The battle resulted in 2 civilian casualties: Siddig Idris Arbab from Dema and Adam Mohamed Idris from Luke.
AU was informed about these serious violations on Wednesday but the observers are expected to arrive on Thursday for investigation.
SLM/A Ain Seiro command post will not hesitate to defend the civilians and, if inevitable, counter attack the enemy.
