Dear Partners and Friends
We are pleased to inform you all that NRRDO together with the Nuba Mountains Youth Association are organizing Second Nuba carnival in the period
30th to 31st March 2006 at Kauda
“The Nuba Culture one of the world’s most beautiful monument of human existence is being threatened by continuous assimilation and economic exploitation its very existence has been seriously damaged and is already partly destroyed by internal displacement and migration. This unique tradition will undoubtedly become extinct by the marsh of civilization if not carefully preserved and supported in its permanent struggle for survival.”
You are kindly invited to participate in the upcoming colourful carnival rehearsal. Your participation will contribute to keep this unique culture alive and save it from disintegration. The Nuba Cultural carnival will present among other activities the greatest Nuba art of:-
• Classical face and body painting decoration
• Physical and facial scarification
• Wrestling competitions
• Nuba Music
• Self adornment, fashioned by leather, feather, roots, beads and leaves.
• Stick fighting
• Various tribal cultural dances
• Exhibits of material cultural particularities
• Football matches
• Theatre and cultural exchange
• Traditional artworks and artifacts
• Traditional arts of pottery, calabash, mats, beads, costumes, medicinal herbs, sports and cultural poetry.
The carnival scheduled small flight will be able to pick a few upon confirmation however; OLS/WFP flights schedules to Kauda are twice a week Tuesdays and Saturdays. For more information about the carnival please contact:
