The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been asked to leave Darfur in Western Sudan. It was informed by the central authorities on Monday that its mandate in Darfur would not be renewed.
The voluntary organization NRC has been operating the largest refugee camp in the province. The Kalma camp has housed and fed 100,000 who have been displaced by the civil war in the region. NCR will have to leave the camp already Tuesday, and now fears for the security and the lives of the refugees.
